In-Person Programming


Yes Center workout

Our in-person athletic development programming is designed to give youth an opportunity to learn sport- and exercise-related skills.

Programming occurs in the Youth Exercise and Sport Center (The YES Center in the Robinson Health and Physical Activity Center).

Our fundamental beliefs:  

  • YES all youth can be athletes.
  • YES all youth can play sports.
  • YES sports and exercise can be fun.  

 

Sports Skills & Physical Activity Camp – June

The Sports Skills & Physical Activity Camp at KU is designed to provide children (grades 3-6) with the opportunity develop sports skills and a good physical fitness level. Experiences will be provided in a group instructional environment with expert leadership and supervision. All children will be able to participate in the activities. Activities include basketball, baseball, bowling, football, frisbee, hockey, soccer, resistance training, volleyball and more.

Athletic Development 

Athletic development is for youth who are looking to take the next steps in learning skills that can improve strength, power, and speed. The programming will include structured jumping, sprinting, and strength training to improve overall athletic development. Youth will complete sport performance testing and perform strength training using barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells.

Jayhawk Physical Education (JPE) - School Year

The Well-Fit Center offers weekly classes in the YES Center for children who do not regularly have access to traditional physical education. Children will participate in typical physical education programing along with other activities designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, and behaviors for physical activity and fitness. Children who participate in the program will have access to physical wellness and fitness STEM content via the online Sci-FIIT Academy.

Speed Skills – Summer

Speed Skills is for athletes who are looking to compete at a high level in middle school and/or high school sports in sports that requires sprinting. Running fast is a skill that can be learned. All youth can become faster with the right instructions. The program will be structured and include exercises to be performed outside of the in-person training times.

Club Team – Sport Performance Training and Testing

There is a rapid rise in competitive youth club teams. Yet, the competitive clubs currently lack resources to improve sport performance of their athletes. The Club Team programing can provide researched based sport specific-performance testing, injury prevention assessments, and strength and conditioning programs for your competitive club team
